FAQs

ACADEMY FAQs

Do I need any previous nail experience?
No. Our accredited beginner courses are designed to teach you from the foundations, so you do not need previous professional nail experience to enrol.

Is this suitable for complete beginners?
Absolutely. Our beginner qualification courses are designed for those starting their nail career as well as those looking to gain a recognised professional qualification.

Is the course accredited?
Yes. Our professional qualification courses are accredited, with training designed to meet recognised industry standards. You will need to successfully complete the required training and assessment before your qualification is awarded.

Can I get insurance after completing the course?
Following successful completion of your accredited qualification, you can apply for professional nail technician insurance and begin offering the treatments you are qualified in, subject to the requirements of your chosen insurer.

What happens if I don't pass?
Your qualification is awarded based on competency, not simply attendance. If you do not meet the required standard during your initial assessment, we'll explain where further development is needed and guide you through the next steps towards completing your qualification.

Is my kit included?
Yes. Where stated, your professional student kit is included within the course price. Your kit contains products and equipment selected to support both your practical training and continued practice after your course.

Do I need to bring a model?
Model requirements may vary depending on the course. Full model requirements and preparation instructions will be provided within your pre-course information before your training date.

Where is training held?
In-person training is held at Gemma's Beauty Clinic in Bury, Greater Manchester. Full address and arrival information will be provided following booking.

Is parking available?
Parking and travel information will be included within your pre-course information so you can plan your journey before your training day.

What should I bring?
We'll send you a complete pre-course checklist before your training date. This will include anything you need to bring, model requirements where applicable, and everything you need to know before arriving.

Are payment plans available?
Where available, payment options will be displayed at checkout. Any remaining balance must be paid in accordance with the payment terms provided when booking.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand that circumstances can change. Cancellation and rescheduling requests are subject to our Academy booking terms. Please contact us as soon as possible if you're unable to attend your booked date. Full cancellation, transfer and rescheduling terms are provided before booking.

How long does the course take?
Course duration varies depending on the training you choose. The expected training time is clearly displayed on each course page and within your booking information.

What happens after training?
After completing your training, you'll complete the required assessment process. Once you have successfully demonstrated the required knowledge and practical competency, your qualification will be awarded.

You'll then be able to continue developing your skills, arrange appropriate professional insurance and begin taking the next steps in your nail career.

Do I receive ongoing support?
Yes. Your education doesn't simply end when you leave the Academy. You'll receive guidance around your training and assessment, with continued support available as you put your new skills into practice.

What's the difference between accredited training and 1-1 bespoke training?
Our accredited qualification courses are structured professional programmes designed to teach the required theory and practical skills and, following successful assessment, lead to a recognised qualification.

Our 1-1 Bespoke Training is designed for nail technicians who are already qualified and want personalised education to refine or develop their existing skills.

A bespoke session can focus specifically on areas such as prep, application, structure, retention, shaping, product control or troubleshooting.
